About Us
Newark Water Coalition

Water is Life. Agua es Vida.

The Newark Water Coalition first meeting was 12/18/18. Our first meeting was attended by over 30 people and 10 different organizations. The NWC started by simply organizing and hosting town halls all over Newark to give good information about the city's lead crisis.

In July of 2019 the EPA came to the city of Newark to inform the community that the filters that the city of Newark were giving out were failing. This prompted national attention on the city of Newark and giving the Newark Water Coalition its platform. The NWC has been featured in NBC ABC Time magazine and international media from France to Finland.

In August of 2019 NWC partnered with an organization called 501CTHREE now renamed the Water Genome project to receive the water box. The water box is a 4-way filtration system that allows us to connect to a water source and distribute free clean water. NWC is the only organization in the state of NJ that has been consistently given out free water for the last 7 years.

Want to know more about who our people are?

We could write about our staff community and volunteers but there is no better way to learn about the Water Coalition than to hear from our people. Check out the video below to hear from our staff and volunteers.

Learn about our Water Box Program

Over 500,000 gallons of water have been given out during the last 7 years of the Newark Water Coalition. A lot of this comes from our water boxes. Check out the video below to learn about the program.
